The Cleric Across the Tabletop

I played a Cleric back in the day and it was awesome. I remember being able to beat my foes down with a morning star while healing and resurrecting my allies. He was the one guy that never died in the campaign, not even once. Clerics are a strange beast because no one thinks they want to play one but they love having them in the party and when someone actually does play a Cleric they have a great time.

The Bard Across the Tabletop

I won’t lie to you, almost no one wanted to play the Bard. A dude that plays a ukulele just isn’t a sexy as a Wizard that can summon a meteor to blow up the planet or a Cleric that can raise an army back from the dead. All you’ve got are your little tunes. I think this is just because of the way the Bard has been presented. Why isn’t he a rock and roll idol that uses his guitar to smite his foes with lightning? You could totally make the Bard that guy…At least in 4th Edition.

The Assassin Rebirth! Part 2: Paragon Paths

This entry just had stuff for powers and Paragon Paths. I’m guessing when these articles are all compiled into the full issue they’ll be organized much better and include the paragon tier feats that are missing here (though there were two paragon tier feats featured in the heroic tier article). They could be holding out because they want to sell whatever book that will eventually feature the Assassin (maybe in the Dark Sun Campaign Setting?).

The Barbarian Across the Tabletop

So how has the Barbarian fared in most of its incarnations? I’d say they’ve been shown a lot of love. Anyone from a Frank Frazetta fan to someone that just wants to kick a face in can get behind the Barbarian. Why be a Fighter when you can be the guy that flips out during battle and starts chopping up all of the goblins without the silly burden of thoughts getting in your way?
